The Gear Up Florida Arrival is an exciting weekend that celebrates cycling and service across the state of Florida. Whether you are a team member, parent, friend or just a bystander, it is easy to get caught up in the excitement that surrounds this weekend.

This weekend is not just an end to an incredible trek; it is the start of an ongoing journey that will forever change a Gear Up Florida team member’s life. Over the course of the two weeks, Gear Up Florida team members have experienced joy, pain, exhaustion and a deeper understanding for people with disabilities.

We hope that you will join us in our celebration. Below is information regarding the Saturday afternoon and evening schedules and events. Should you have any questions, please call the Push America office so that we can help you make your plans as smoothly as possible.

Gear Up Florida Arrival
The arrival will take place in the front of the Florida State Capitol Building at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2008. Please arrive around 2:30 pm as the team will be arriving at 3:00 pm sharp! Plan on wearing shorts and lots of sunscreen! It is traditionally very warm that day, so please be prepared.

Awards Banquet
An awards banquet to celebrate the accomplishments of the Gear Up Florida team will be held on the evening of May 31 at the Park Plaza Hotel in Tallahassee. A cocktail reception will precede the awards banquet and will begin at 6:00 p.m. The awards banquet will begin at 7:00 pm. The attire for the evening is business casual. We are expecting over 100 family, friends and Pi Kappa Phis to be in attendance. Cost for this event will be $40 per guest.

Hotel Reservations
The Park Plaza Hotel in Tallahassee will be the host hotel of the Gear Up Florida 2008 Arrival. The Park Plaza Hotel is located at 415 N Monroe St. in Tallahassee, FL 32301. The Park Plaza Hotel has offered rooms to parents, family and friends of the Gear Up Florida team members at a reduced rate of $89.00.

To reserve your room(s) guests may call (850) 224-6000. The group code for reservations is Gear Up Florida. Please make your reservations as soon as possible, as our block is held on a first come, first served basis.

**Parents do not need to make reservations for team members on the evening of May 31, Push America will make these reservations.
