Yellowstone

Yellowstone
Date: June 24th 2009
Day 19
Miles: 55
Destination: West Thumb, WY

This morning we started off to some interesting music DJ’d by Eric. We entered the actual park today so we had to do another 5:00 A.M. wake up to beat the traffic, although we are all starting to get used to by now, minus the fact that it was a freezing 33 degrees outside. We were all bundled up in our cold weather gear, but that didn’t stop our toes and fingers from getting a little frozen. Luckily it only took about an hour for the sun to get above the tree line to start warming the park to a nice 75 degrees by the end of the day.

The ride itself was one of the most scenic ones we have been on. The park, especially as the sun rises, is definitely a site to behold. We were able to see all the major attractions, including Old Faithful. On the ride we were also able to get up close with some of the Bison living in the park and some of the guys got some very cool pictures being only a few feet from the animals.

We are staying at this hotel/cabin place with actual beds, something everyone is extremely happy about. Dinner was at a local restaurant at the park and we went underneath the actual store to an employee dinning area and were given some awesome spaghetti. Finally we reached out first 1,000 miles biked and are over a quarter of the way time wise too as well. It’s just flying by.
