Seattle Training

Date : June 7th 2009
Day 2
Miles: 0

Destination: Seattle, WA

Well it is officially day 2 of the Journey.  We had a large breakfast in the Quality Inn and Suites and then walked over to the biggest REI store that any of us had ever seen.  The plan was to conduct a few hours of cyclist training and shop for some last minute items.  We were set up in the corporate meeting room at the REI and had lunch provided to us by Spencer Kang Chan,
an alumni from the Alpha Delta chapter at the University of Washington.  Training lasted a few hours and the guys played a few games in order to get to know each other better.  Spirits are high and we cannot wait to get on our bikes.

After an extensive and comprehensive rundown of the policies and procedures of the trip we headed back to the hotel to get ready for our first friendship visit.  The event was at Gas Works park on the North side of Lake Union in the middle of Seattle.  It is a gorgeous park and a lot of people came out to participate from the ARC of King County.  Syliva Fuerstenberg, the director of the organization, welcomed us and provided food with a few other generous sponsors including Mr. Patrick Thomas Walker,
Alpha Delta - University of Washington
and Mr. Joshua Leigh Brothers,
Alpha Delta - University of Washington
.  After the event, we took a large group photo in front of the lake and headed back to lodging to practice the infamous KOB (kids on the block) puppet show.  A few guys surprised us and stepped up to the challenge of trying to manipulate small girls voices in order to play their puppets characters properly.  It was hilarious.  What a great second day.
